Retirement Huts

October 20, 2012

The thing about travelling is that you get a taste of different lifestyles and you end up imagining yourself living or heck even retiring in some of these places. It may be a bit premature but when I think of retirement (and I honestly do) these tropical seaside huts come to mind.

A simple shack by the beach

Built using sustainable and locally sourced materials

With a great view of the sea.

Ah wishful thinking. What about you? Which places would you like to move to and why?

    Maria,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I appreciate the time to look at my travels. You seem to be able to do quite a bit yourself! NE @WebsAndThreadsTravels

My favorite is the middle one since it looks cozy and has character and no stairs for aging knees to battle with! I am okay, now ,with stairs – but may not be later…

In a simple shack in Ecuador. When I was there last fall I met someone and we spent my last 3 weeks there together. We went on weekend trip to a small village and stayed in a very simple shack (with an outdoor shower – BLISS!) in the forest. Just the right elevation so that it was moderate temperatures year round. Ahhhhhh….

:( it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Still sucks though. I want to tell my story but it doesn’t fit the platform of my blog. Ahem. Haha!

Oh no you don’t! You can’t ask me to share my story and not reciprocate. Publicly or in an email, I think you owe me a story…

I want to retire to London and live in the middle of constant action!
I live in a Mediterranean fishing village where the local men go our in 2-man rowing boats to fish for a living and the beach is 2 minutes walk away. It’s idyllic but boring. When yo work you want to relax, but when you retire you want to be stimulated!

One life isn’t long enough to see all the things on my Bucket List, but of all the places I’ve been to so far Venice is perhaps the place I’d most like to retire to.

I wouldn’t mind the third one. I think to swim every day in a calm sea would be my ideal. I absolutely adore the island of Paxos in Greece – heaven!

Give me access to the beach, mountains, lake, great food and an airport……aaaahhh sounds like retirement to me.

Every time I travel to a new country I wind up thinking , “Hey , I could live here” . For retirement it would definitely be somewhere tropical with the beach nearby but developed enough to have some good restaurant and coffee shops.

The pictures are beautiful. I love looking at the lovely places in HGTV International. But, having lived overseas for two years, I couldn’t live outside the US again. You give up too much. And, I do love my grandchildren. It’s a nice place to visit……

I can’t really imagine staying put in one place right now. I love to go from place to place and it would be hard to pick just one. However, if I had to it would definitely be some place warm. Sometimes I like cities like Rome, Paris, London, etc. and other times I like relaxing on the beach . However, I would definitely have to have a great golf course close by.

    My posted comment, I believe says it all… I think, I hope…

Ah Maria… how about me? If not Roma where I am headed again next month, at least not too far from you… so as to be witness to your constant creative magic, lest we forget the beauty of your person. Thank you for the soulful continuity. JJF Jean-Jacques Fournier

I would never move- not at my age and I do not like change and having to adapt. I like all of the huts but the 2nd pic is a lovely looking hut and the 3rd one is on a hillside. If there should be too much rain- possibly the hillside would come crumbling down upon you and your hut. Great photos as usual.
